Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan
The Dean of Harvard Law School and banned military recruiters there because she does not agree with the military policy regarding sexual orientation. Oh no, how can we win a war without Harvard lawyers? Her way of supporting the troops is to look like the Marine Corps mascot. I'm just saying...

The next time some California state official says their town is going to boycott Arizona because of the illegal immigration policy, please understand what they are really saying is that they support illegals staying in Arizona and staying out of California. Be a patriot and mow your own lawn.

Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief Feeding Units Activated; Assessors and Chaplains to Begin Work Next Week
May 5, 2010

Tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. the Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief (TBDR) State Feeding Unit will arrive at Judson Baptist Church, Nashville, Tennessee, to begin preparing meals in partnership with the American Red Cross.  More than 10,000 meals will be distributed to different shelters from Franklin to Gallatin to victims of the torrential rainfall and flooding last weekend.

Hardeman County TBDR Feeding Unit has been deployed to Pocahontas, Tennessee, and has already begun preparing meals.  Another West Tennessee group of TBDR volunteers, who is being recruited to set up their kitchen in Jackson, Tennessee, is expected to prepare more than 7,000 meals each day.

In addition, TBDR is recruiting chaplains and assessors to begin work in mud out and flood recovery next Monday.  “This was a no respecter of persons, no respecter of homes type of flood.  Assessments can begin once the water begins to recede,” states David Acres, TBDR State Director.

TBDR has 14 specially trained flood recovery units (commonly called mud-out units) in the state.  These units have the trained volunteers and equipment to assist homeowners in cleaning and removing damaged walls, carpets and furnishings from houses flooded with contaminated water.

A special fund has been created to assist with Disaster Relief efforts in response to this past weekend’s events.  Individuals may give online or by sending a check made payable to TBC, P.O. Box 728, Brentwood, TN 37024.  Be sure to include the designation “TN Floods 2010” on your check.  All funds so designated will be used for victim’s assistance as described in the TBDR Designated Gift policy.

Violent storms tore through Oklahoma Monday, killing five and injuring dozens, some critically. Sam Porter, Oklahoma disaster relief director, reported from Haiti, where he is currently serving, that Oklahoma Baptists are responding to the deadly tornadoes under the direction of Norman Wagner, incident commander. The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management said more than 65,000 homes and businesses were without power. Southern Baptists are asked to pray for those affected.

Insurance - What are you wanting Price or Coverage?

Insurance - What are you wanting Price or Coverage?

That is the question every agent should ask and every buyer should know when looking for insurance.  Many times we see people come in and we discuss their insurance coverage - only to find they bought a policy for less price with less coverage.  There are thousands of the same autos on the road - only in different colors.  Comparing auto insurance with the same coverages is not that hard - if its apples & apples.  Your home ( unless it is a tract home ) is unique.  Did your agent actually look at your home - did they walk around and inspect your home or did they throw out some nice numbers.  Every company offers different coverages in their home policy.  Yes the coverage for the home may be close of the same but the internal coverages can be drastically different.  Save yourself a lot of aggravation - seek out an Independent Agent - one with many companies.  Spend some time ask some questions.  Most homeowners policies cover what is usual and customary to the average homeowner up and down the street. If you have an item or items that are something nobody else has (antiques, Guns, collections) there is usually limited or no coverage.  Do not be the square peg forced into a round hole.  Just a thought for the savy insurance buyer.
