Special Electronic Equipment policies insure property and causes of loss excluded under conventional all-risks Property and Boiler and Machinery forms. A variety of endorsements can "customize" this policy to fit your specific needs.
Accounts Receivable Coverage
This coverage is used to reimburse you for customer' accounts that are rendered uncollectible as a result of loss by a covered peril. Back to top
Agreed Amount Media Coverage
This endorsement extends the EDP policy to include coverage for loss to specified media on an agreed amount basis. This is needed because standard EDP policies only cover data or media that can be replaced by like kind or quality. Such wording might prove inadequate when trying to determine the value for one-of-a-kind software. Back to top
Agreed Amount Valuation
This coverage will protect you against being considered a coinsurer if a loss occurs. With it, a carrier agrees that the amount of coverage purchased is adequate and any coinsurance requirements are waived if the limit of insurance equals the agreed value. Back to top
Back Up Location Limit Reviewed
This coverage is used to extend your EDP policy to provide protection for duplicate or back up data while stored at locations other than those described in your policy. Such coverage is provided for the limits as specified in the provision. Back to top
Blanket Equipment Coverage
This coverage allows for a single limit of insurance to apply to two or more pieces of equipment, instead of a specific amount applying to each individual item. Back to top
Business Interruption Coverage
This coverage is used to provide protection for lost earnings due to a slowdown or shutdown of operations resulting from the loss of use of insured electronic equipment or media. Back to top
Coinsurance Provision Included
An EDP policy may contain a coinsurance clause requiring that the limit of coverage be a minimum percentage of the insurable value of your equipment. If the amount of insurance carried is less than what is required by this clause, any claim payment may be reduced by the same percentage as the deficiency. Back to top
Computer Virus Coverage
This coverage is used to extend the EDP policy to include protection against loss to media resulting from vandalism caused by the introduction of a hostile program into your computer system. Back to top
Deductible
A policy may include a deductible in its provisions. This limit specifies the amount that will be deducted from any payment made to you because of a covered loss. Back to top
Earthquake
This coverage is used to extend your policy to provide protection against loss due to earth movement including earthquake shocks and volcanic eruption. Back to top
Electronic Data Processing E & O
This coverage is used to insure against claims arising out of alleged negligent acts, errors, or omissions while performing professional data processing services for others. Back to top
Electronic Equipment Coverage
This policy will provide protection for the electronic equipment scheduled in the form. The advantage of this form is that it covers such equipment for standard property perils (fire, vandalism, theft, etc.) as well as more traditional Boiler and Machinery perils (electrical breakdown, power surge, etc.) all in one policy. It can also be extended to include coverage for loss of media, and time element exposures that may be present in conjunction with such items. Back to top
Equip. In-Transit/Off Premises
This coverage is used to extend your policy to include protection for computer hardware and software while in transit and temporarily at other locations for the limit specified in the policy. Back to top
Extended Water Damage Coverage
This coverage is used to provide protection against loss caused by back up of sewer or drains; or underground water flowing or seeping through foundations, floors, basements, doors or other openings. Back to top
Extra Expense Coverage
This coverage is designed to pay for the above normal operating expenses needed to continue after a loss caused by a covered peril. Back to top
Flood Coverage
The coverage is used to provide protection against loss due to damage by flood as specified in the form. Back to top
Functional Replacement Cost
Under this valuation method, equipment loss will be valued as the cost to repair or replace equipment with functionally comparable equipment of current generation. Back to top
Mechanical/Electrical Injury
This coverage is used to extend your EDP policy to protect against loss resulting from mechanical breakdown or electrical injury. Back to top
Media Coverage
This coverage is used to provide coverage for loss or damage to electronic media which results in additional costs to reproduce data. This is important since many times these costs can be more than actual damage to your hardware. Back to top
New Locations Coverage Reviewed
This coverage extends your policy to provide protection for EDP equipment that may be moved to new locations occupied by you during the policy year. Such equipment is insured up to the time period and limit of insurance as specified in the provision. Back to top
Newly Acquired Equipment
This coverage is used to extend your EDP policy to cover any new equipment you may have acquired or purchased during the policy year. Back to top
Off-Premises Power Supply
This coverage is used to extend your policy to provide protection against loss that arises because of a utility's failure to provide you with power. Back to top
Recharge Expense Coverage
This coverage pays for expenses to recharge or refill your computer's fire suppression system after it has been used in conjunction with a covered loss, or has been accidentally discharged. Back to top
Replacement Cost Valuation
Under this valuation method, equipment loss will be valued at the cost to repair or replace such equipment of the same generation. Back to top
Stipulated Value / Leased Equip.
A Computer policy can be extended to include a Stipulated Loss Value endorsement for specified leased EDP equipment. This endorsement states that loss of such equipment shall be valued at the cost to fulfill requirements of any applicable equipment lease agreement. Back to top
Temperature & Humidity Change
This coverage is used to protect against loss of equipment and media that results from changes in temperature or humidity. Back to top
Upgraded Value Valuation
This endorsement allows you to replace destroyed equipment with equipment of greater processing ability. The form includes a description of the replacement equipment along with the current values that will be available in case of loss. Back to top
Valuable Papers and Records
This coverage is designed to pay for the costs to reconstruct original source materials including records, deeds, manuscripts, films, drawings or other valuable papers or records that have NOT been converted into usable EDP data. Back to top
