Add'l Insured - Lessor (CA2001)
This endorsement is used to extend your auto coverage to provide primary protection for an entity with ownership interest, such as a lease vehicle. This is required because the standard auto insurance only protects nonowned autos on an excess basis, thereby leaving owners of such vehicles uninsured for primary protection. Back to top

Agreed Value Valuation
Vehicles that are customized, or of unusually high values, may require special loss valuation considerations. Under an Agreed Value endorsement, the standard deduction for depreciation is not taken, and the amount available for repair or replacement is determined prior to the loss. Back to top

All Vehicles/Insureds Covered
It is normally recommended that a periodic review be made of all policies that are used to cover vehicles owned by your company and its principals. This is needed because many times gaps in coverage can occur between personal and commercial Auto policies which can leave your company and its principles without adequate insurance. Back to top

Automobile Liability
This coverage is used to protect against claims alleged for bodily injury and property damage arising from the ownership, maintenance or use of any covered auto. Back to top

Automobile Physical Damage
This coverage is used to protect the covered vehicle itself. It pays for physical damage loss that results from a covered peril. Back to top

Broadened Definition of Vehicle
This endorsement is used to modify your policy to cover several additional types of non-vehicular units (such as boats, farm machinery, etc.), which you may have in your care, custody, or control for parking, storage, servicing or sale. Back to top

Collision Coverage
This coverage is used to insure against loss or damage to a covered vehicle resulting from collision or upset. Back to top

Combined Single Limits Explained
Combined single limit coverage specifies that regardless of the number of covered autos, insureds or claims occurring in any one accident, the most that you can recover is the limit of liability shown on the policy's declaration page. This includes damage associated with bodily injury, property damage and pollution costs or expenses. Back to top

Common Insurer For GL/Auto
It is normally recommended that your General Liability and Auto coverages be written with a single company. This is important since many of your business activities can involve operations on or near your vehicles. If a loss occurs during these operations, problems can arise as to who provides coverage when different carriers are used. Back to top

Comprehensive Perils Coverage
This coverage is used to insure against loss or damage to a covered vehicle resulting from loss excluding collision or upset. Back to top

Contractual Liab. - Rental Car
This coverage is used to provide liability protection for any auto that is leased or rented by you or your employees. Back to top

DOC Coverage (CA9910, 17 ,18)
This endorsement is used to protect employees or other specified individuals when they borrow or rent cars for personal use, and do not have the protection of a Personal Auto policy. Back to top

Downtime Coverage
This insurance is used to protect against loss of income and/or extra expenses when an insured vehicle(s) is rendered inoperable by a covered peril. Coverage includes continuing expenses for payments on vehicle(s) and the additional expense of leasing a replacement unit while the damaged unit is being repaired. Back to top

Employees As Insured's (CA9933)
This endorsement is used to add your employee(s) to the Auto policy as additional insureds. It covers an employee who uses his or her own car for company business. This is used when an employee's Personal Auto policy does not, or cannot, provide adequate insurance limits. This coverage is excess protection over your employee's Personal Auto policy. Back to top

Explosives Coverage
This endorsement will extend the Auto policy to include coverage for damage caused by the explosion of explosives transported by you. Back to top

Farm Labor Contractors (CA2401)
This endorsement is used to broaden the Automobile policy to cover the transporting of migrant agricultural workers in accordance with the Farm Labor Contractors Registration Act. Back to top

Fellow Employee Excl. Deleted
This endorsement is used to extend your Liability protection to insure against claims filed by one employee against another for alleged negligent acts. This exposure is excluded in your standard policy since it is intended for this type of claim to be insured under your Worker's Compensation coverage. Generally, states allow employees the right to not only claim compensation, but also maintain their right to sue third parties for damage. Unfortunately, in many states there is no clear definition of what is a third party and therefore, a suit could potentially be brought against an employee as a third party. Back to top

Freezing Coverage - Mounted Equip.
This coverage is used to extend auto physical damage insurance to include protection against loss resulting from the freezing of permanently attached equipment, unless the loss is caused by your failure to properly maintain such equipment. This is needed because the standard Auto policy excludes coverage for losses of this kind. Back to top

Garagekeepers Coverage (CA9937)
This insurance is used to insure against claims arising out of damage to vehicles owned by others which are left with you for storage, service, safekeeping or repair. Back to top

Garagekeepers incl. Customer's Sound Receiving Equip. (CA9959)
This endorsement is used to extend your policy to provide coverage for loss to sound receiving equipment in customers' autos left in your care for servicing, repairing, parking or storing. Back to top

Hired Automobile Coverage
This coverage is used to protect against claims arising out of the use of vehicles leased, hired, rented or borrowed by you, or your employees, while in the course of business. Back to top

Intentional Bodily Injury
This coverage is used to insure against bodily injury claims arising from the use of reasonable force while protecting persons or property that are in a covered vehicle. Back to top

Leased Auto Gap Coverage
This coverage is designed to offset the financial loss that can result when physical damage insurance on leased vehicles fails to cover the remaining amount of a lease obligation following an accident. This is needed since, in the event of a loss, the lease can be subject to early termination and leave the lessee owing more than the amount of the car's actual cash value. Back to top

Leasing/Rental - 2nd Level (CA2014)
This coverage is used to provide excess protection over the amount required of your lessees, or as excess coverage over your own primary
coverage if you are providing primary protection on your leased vehicles. Lessees are not afforded coverage under this endorsement. Back to top

Leasing/Rental - Contingent Liability (CA2009)
This coverage will act as excess over primary insurance, or drop down as primary coverage, if a lessee's liability insurance lapses. It is used as additional protection when you are involved in rental or leasing operations, and require that your lessees provide primary insurance coverage. The amount recoverable is the lesser of the amount of the lease or the amount specified on the endorsement. Back to top

Leasing/Rental - Contingent PD
This coverage is used to provide contingent physical damage protection for a lessor when a lessee fails to maintain required physical damage insurance. Back to top

Leasing/Rental - Conversion (CA2010)
This coverage is used to insure against loss to a covered auto due to theft, conversion, embezzlement or secretion by any renter or lessee. This differs from the usual definition of theft which is defined as an act committed by a person not having prior possession of an auto. Back to top

Leasing/Rental - Primary Coverage
This insurance is used to provide primary specified coverage for those autos that you rent or lease to the public as scheduled in the form. Back to top

Leasing/Rental - Rent-It-Here/Leave-It-There Autos (CA2012)
This endorsement is used to provide coverage for a nonowned auto that belongs to another rental company. Under this form, there is no coverage for the owner/lessor of the auto or the rentee. Back to top

Leasing/Rental - Scheduled Auto (CA2013)
This coverage is used to insure the different classes of automobiles that you own, rented or lease. Under the form, separate limits of coverage are provided for autos:

(1) where a lessee is required to
provide primary coverage,
(2) where a lessee is not required to
provide direct primary coverage, and
(3) that are owned by you that
are not subject to a leasing or rental agreement. Back to top

Medical Payments (CA9903)
This coverage is used to pay for medical expenses incurred by a covered person injured while driving or riding in your automobile. It provides coverage, regardless of fault, for all reasonable medical costs incurred for up to one year from the date of the accident. It does not cover injury to employees. Back to top

Mexico Exposure Protection
This endorsement is used to broaden the Auto policy to provide limited coverage (within 25 miles of border) for vehicles driven temporarily in Mexico. Please note, this will not satisfy Mexican law even for the limited border area contemplated. Coverage should be purchased from a licensed Mexican insurance company if trips into Mexico are anticipated. Back to top

Motor Carrier Act (MCS-90)
This endorsement provides for the compliance with the financial responsibility requirements imposed by the Motor Carrier Act. It requires your carrier to pay for loss resulting from bodily injury, property damage and environmental restorations as set forth under this act. Please note, this is not insurance. You must reimburse your carrier for any payment the latter has made that falls outside the scope of coverage of your basic Auto/Truckers policy. Back to top

Motor Carrier Act Filings Verified
All appropriate policies involving Liability, Umbrella and Cargo coverage have been reviewed to ensure that appropriate ICC and PUC filings have been attached and/or filed by your insurance carrier. Back to top

No More Restrictive Than BAC
It is normally recommended that your Auto policy be worded so that it is no more restrictive than the current standard Auto policy. This is important since insurance companies may restrict, or use other forms, when writing Auto policies which can result in serious coverage gaps. Back to top

Non-Owned Automobile Liability
This coverage is used to provide liability protection for autos used in your business that are not owned, leased, hired, rented orborrowed. This includes autos of employees and subcontractors that are used on your behalf. Back to top

Non-Registered Vehicles Endorsement Added
This coverage is used to extend your Business Auto policy to include specified coverage for any covered auto or trailer while using registration plates described in the endorsement. Back to top

Non-Trucking Use Liab. (CA2309)
This coverage is designed to address situations when you lease your equipment to a trucking firm and are not covered under their policy. Claims which may arise outside of the scope of such lease agreements require special coverage. This includes Bobtailing, where your truck tractor unit is disconnected from its trailer and is being used by you in circumstances not covered by your lease agreement, and Deadheading, where you return without a load because the lease agreement ends with unloading at the other end of your route. Back to top

On Hook (in-tow) Coverage
This coverage will protect against your legal liability for loss to a vehicle by a covered peril while in tow to or from your operations. Back to top

Passenger's Property (CA2402)
This endorsement is used to extend your Auto policy to cover damage to passengers' personal property while in your care. It is necessary since your Auto policy normally excludes such exposures. Back to top

Personal Injury Protection
This coverage is used to provide medical expenses as well as work loss, funeral expenses, essential services expenses and survivor's loss coverage as outlined in your state's statutory No-Fault laws. Back to top

Pollution Transportation (CA9948)
This endorsement is used to extend your auto policy to cover liability arising out of sudden or non-sudden release of pollutantsthat are being transported, towed by, handled, stored, disposed of orprocessed in or upon a covered vehicle. However, coverage is notprovided for any liability assumed under contract, or for some typesof government ordered testing or cleanup operations. Back to top

Prejudgement Interest Coverage
This provision is used to provide coverage for expenses related to prejudgement interest that may be levied against you in a lawsuit. This is important because such interest can be substantial and not be covered by many standard policy forms. Back to top

Rental Car - Loss of Use Damages
This endorsement is used to extend your Auto coverage to include protection for "loss of use" charges billed by a rental car firm when a vehicle you have rented from them is damaged by a covered peril. Back to top

Rental Reimbursement (CA9923)
This coverage is used to pay for rental charges incurred if you temporarily lose the use of your vehicle(s) due to a covered loss. Back to top

Repossessed Autos (CA2019)
This endorsement is used to modify the Auto policy to provide automatic liability and physical damage coverage for any repossessed autos you might acquire. Back to top

Sales Tax Included in PD Loss
This endorsement is used to modify the definition of valuation used in your Auto policy's physical damage coverage to include the actual cash value of a covered car plus the sales tax and any unearned license fees in case of a total loss. This is needed because many Auto policies do not include reimbursement for such costs. Back to top

Sound Equipment (CA9960)

This endorsement is used to provide coverage for electronic equipment that receives or transmits audio, visual or data signals other than equipment designed solely for the purpose of reproducing sound. Back to top

Sound Receiving Equip. - Fire, Police & Emergency Cars (CA2002)
This endorsement is used to extend your Auto policy to cover any equipment that is installed in a covered auto. Back to top

Specified Perils Coverage
This coverage will insure against loss to a covered vehicle resulting from fire, explosion, theft, windstorm, hail, earthquake, flood, malicious mischief or vandalism, and the sinking, burning, collision or derailment of any conveyance transporting the covered auto. Back to top

Stated Amount Valuation (CA9928)
This valuation method states that in case of loss the dollar recovery will not be more than the amount specified for that automobile even if this amount is less than the actual cash value or cost to repair it. Back to top

Suspended Insurance Endorsement (CA0240)
This endorsement is used to suspend coverage for vehicles laid up during off-season months. It is used for units which will not be on public roads for more than 30 consecutive days. Back to top

Tapes & Records (CA9930)
This endorsement is used to extend your Automobile policy to include specified coverage for tapes, records or discs used with permanently installed sound equipment in covered vehicles. Please note that loss must occur inside a covered vehicle and only applies for property owned by you or your family members. Back to top

Terminal Only Coverage
This coverage is used to provide physical damage protection for vehicles and equipment while located at the premises described in the policy. It does not cover off-premises losses which are self insured by you. The use of this form will ensure that catastrophic protection is provided on the total values of such equipment, yet allow you to enjoy a premium savings by retaining smaller, single unit physical damage claims. Back to top

Towing
This coverage will reimburse you to a predetermined limit for each disablement caused by a covered peril. Back to top

Trailer Exposure Reviewed
The standard Auto policy only provides automatic coverage for trailers with a load capacity of 2,000 pounds or less. Please note that any units that fall outside of this limited coverage definition are not covered unless specifically scheduled in your policy. Back to top

Trailer Interchange (CA2313, 17)
This coverage is used to provide legal liability protection for physical damage to trailers not owned, but in your possession, under the terms of a trailer interchange agreement. Back to top

Truckers - Excess (CA 2308, 12)
This endorsement is used to extend a Truckers policy to provide excess liability protection for specified vehicles hired from lessors. It is used for situations when lessees transfer risk back to a lessor (owner-operator) through a hold harmless agreement. This arrangement is specifically excluded in the Truckers form and must be amended to provide needed excess coverage. Back to top

Truckers Coverage (CA0012, CA2320, CA0020)
This insurance is designed to handle your responsibilities as a trucker for bodily injury, property damage and environmental restoration as required by law. Primary coverage can also be added for insured vehicles, either owned or not, and for equipment operated by you through trip lease or other agreements. Back to top

Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist
Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist coverage protects you and your passengers against bodily injury expenses if you are hit by another driver who has no automobile liability insurance or has less than the minimum limits required by your state. Back to top

Vehicles Defined as Equipment (CA2303)
As part of your risk management program we have reviewed the usage of the vehicles and mobile equipment used in your business. The purpose of this is to determine how each of these items should be covered to ensure maximum cost savings while maintaining adequate coverage. Back to top

Volunteer Auto PD Coverage
This endorsement is used to extend the standard Auto policy to provide coverage for damage, as a result of a covered loss, to an automobile owned or used by a member or volunteer who is responding to or returning from the scene of a call. The policy will pay up to the specified amount or reimburse the deductible under the members Auto policy, whichever is less. Back to top

Volunteers as Insureds (CA9934)
This endorsement is used to extend your Auto policy to include coverage for volunteers while using a covered auto not owned, hired, or borrowed by you to transport clients or other persons in activities necessary to your business. Back to top
